Once you accept a CardPawn loan offer, we'll email you a prepaid, insured Canada Post shipping label. Your job is to pack your cards correctly. Improper packing is the #1 cause of in-transit damage β and while our insurance covers verified damage, preventing it is always better.
What CardPawn Provides
- Prepaid Canada Post Xpresspost label with tracking
- Insurance coverage up to $50,000 (included, no extra charge)
- For collections over $50,000: specialized courier pickup arranged separately
You provide: a suitable box, packing materials, and correct packaging. Here's exactly how to do it.
Packing Graded Slabs (PSA, BGS, SGC, CGC)
- Wrap each slab individually in bubble wrap β at least 2 layers. Secure with tape.
- Place wrapped slabs inside a small plastic bag or zip-lock to protect against moisture.
- Pack slabs tightly in a rigid box with at least 2 inches of packing material on all sides (packing peanuts, crumpled paper, or foam). Slabs should not shift when the box is shaken.
- Never stack slabs loose β they must each be individually wrapped and immobile.
- Use a double-box method for shipments over $5,000: inner box inside a larger outer box with 2+ inches of packing material between them.
Packing Raw (Ungraded) Cards
- Place each raw card in a penny sleeve first.
- Slide the sleeved card into a top loader or card saver.
- Tape the top of the top loader closed (painter's tape, not regular tape β to avoid adhesive damage).
- Stack multiple top loaders together and wrap the bundle tightly in bubble wrap.
- Pack in a rigid box as described above.
What NOT to Do
- β Never ship in a padded envelope (Bubble Mailer) alone β these offer insufficient protection for graded cards
- β Never use a soft-sided bag or shoebox without rigid inner packing
- β Never let cards shift freely inside the box
- β Never expose raw cards without sleeves and top loaders
- β Never leave graded slabs unwrapped or touching each other
Carrier Options
CardPawn's prepaid label uses Canada Post Xpresspost, which provides tracking and is covered by our insurance policy. If you're shipping a collection over $50,000, contact us first β we'll arrange specialized courier pickup (Loomis or Purolator with enhanced coverage).
Insurance Tip
Our insurance is voided by improper packaging. Always follow our packing guide exactly. Photograph your packed box (open and sealed) before dropping off β this serves as documentation if a claim is ever needed.
After Dropping Off
Keep your Canada Post receipt. Once your package arrives, you'll receive an email notification and vault confirmation within 2 hours. Same-day wire transfer follows after verification.
